hey guys I was wondering how you know how much to tighten the alternator and power steering belts? how tight is good, and how can you tell. my udp has been on for about 5 months and the power steering belt is squeeling when i turn the wheel all the way to either side, but i don't know how much to tighten them. also, i know you tighten the power steering belt by the tensioner pulley, but how do you tighten the alternator belt. thanks

Well the general rule of thumb for belts is to press down on the belt on the longest stretch between pulleys, and it should deflect no more than about 1/2". To tighten the alt. belt, you have to get under the car. There is one bolt at the bottom of the alt, just loosen that so the alt can move, and at the top of the alt, there is another nut on the front of the alt to loosen. Then there is the adjustment bolt on the firewall side of the alt, and if i can remember, clockwise tightens belt
