every now and then my egt gauge needle starts to bounce all crazy. what could this be?

I had that same prob. Found out the wiring fot the EGT under the hood burned or rubbed open and it was grounding out.

If it is autometer, could be from heat. I know I had this problem with their probe, and I used some oil hose to cover it. Fixed it!

I have greddy now and I have NEVER experienced the bouncy gauge phenomena. and I don't have the probe wires covered or anything.

yea mine ges this too, I have check the ground/power connnections and all is well there, I'll try covering it with something, see if that helps.

i cooked my egt probe the other night and since then i've had the same issue. i know my power and grounds are good as well so does a probe just go bad? its an autometer one is there a better replacement that we should be lookin at getting?

I had the same problem, it was because my egt probe wire got burned on the EGR valve pipe and it would bouce on the egr pipe shorting the exposed wire making the needle jump around.
