Looks legit enough, but I'd rather run a turbo.

correct me if I'm wrong...but don't superchargers create an enormous amount of heat too? Compressing air has that effect...that's why some higher end air compressors (for industrial applications) have intercoolers too.

Thomas Knight makes shit parts, shit kits, and can eat shit IMO. I installed one of his "spercharger kits" on a 3000GT SL. The kit was a shittily made aluminum manifold with shit welds, with aluminum fence post runners, you had to mate the TB on the mani upside down, he had a shit piece of metal and lawnmower pulleys for a tensioner. Let me tell, don't do it. The "kit" wound up being a custom job to get it to work and it finally boosted 1psi. Yea, thats right, 1 pound. BS IMO. I would never buy anything from him, EVER. Trust me, I have first hand experience. This should be put in the things we've seen before and stickied IMO. Save yourself alot of trouble. For all its worth, the kit wound up being the HomeDepot/JBM Performance supercharger. =/

Not defending these guys or anything, but if you only got 1psi out of it either there was a leak somewhere or you need a smaller pulley. A supercharger should be able to make the same amount of boost as a turbocharger. You CAN add an intercooler (i.e. PROCOOLER) to a supercharger setup, and there is no lag. The only downside to a supercharger (that doesn't use shit for parts) is that it has an enormous amount of parasitic loss. If I remember correctly its somewhere around 30% (someone correct me), either way it is an extremly large number and that would kill our power (30% of 225hp= 67.5hp loss putting you at 157.5 crank horsepower). A supercharger shouldn't even be considered on a car making less then 400hp IMO.

The kit uses an eaton m90 supercharger from a pontiac GTP. It was welded in to his crap manifold. He promised a bolt-on 8psi from the kit and it produced one. There were no vaccuum leaks. If I had to guess, he's getting feedback from Ebayers who haven't used his stuff, but from people he's bought from. I wish I still had pictures of it. I almost got to test his S/C 420a kit. He sent me pics and that install is in a car that has no front bumper, radiator, etc. The car has a busted windshield, no front rims/tires, and is on jackstands.

If you want to, do it. I kinda dare someone to do it. Don't say you weren't forewarned IMO.

yeah keith, im sure most understand that.
From what I understand and would expect myself , a "kit" is pretty much "bolt on". If you get 1psi, then maybe the pulley is the wrong one, in which case the builder doesnt know his math. All those issues should be addressed before hand. IMO little things like MM adjustments and a washere here and there are acceptable, but thats it.

As for the heat created, that depends on the blower type. Remember turbos and blowers are both superchargers. I also agree that the parasitic drain off the blower would negate the goals. People tend to think that they are "safer" thats wrong. Again , just like a turbo it is the end user that decides how safe he plays it.

IMO a turbo is better for our applications since the lag helps with traction issues. Not only that but you wont build the boost till theres a load on your engine , which is when you need it.

oh and isnt this the guy that was or is making some electric blower kits>?

Yes. Don't waste your time, money, effort, sweat, blood, etc. It used a 1/8" piece of steel, 2 bolts, 2 nuts, and 2 lawnmower belt pulleys for a tensioner. (I can't express my distaste enough IMO.) Remember, its your car.

As chamuko said, turbo is the best option. Not only does it provide power under load, but you can stay outta load and preserve some fuel economy. It is easily upgradeuble, tuneable, "work-onable", plus you have a community full of tech support vs. a guy that manufactures parts out of crap in his basement. emoji

No, Im agreeing, it's a piece of shit. From a practical view and from a "the guy is putting together a crap s/c and promising things he cant provide" point of view. If you want a supercharger, get a muscle car, if you want power from our cars get a turbo, mucho better IMO. And Chumako's statment about lag helping with traction, I didn't think about it before but that makes a lot of sense, yet another reason to go turbo emoji
