#77612, "engine fuse blown, and another, and another???"

last night i was starting from a stop light and i think i redlined my car....i have the msd rev limiter at 7200 rpms.... right after that the car died....now i cant be positive that i redlined it, but it was up there...(my needles are painted).... i looked around and my main engine fuse, 30amps, was blown....i stuck antother one in and when i would try to start the car it would burn it out too... the car would crank, but wouldnt fire...fuel pump was kicking on, no cel's, just kept burning that fuse...i thought it was my coil because i just got a new one, that wasnt it, i bypassed my msd, not it, pulled the alternator fuse, not it, checked for melted wires or anything on the starter, nothing.... i went through about five fuses last night....then this morning i went back, looked around some more, beat on the ecu, and the car started....now i dont know if it was just because it sat over night and cooled down, or if me actually hitting the ecu did anything.... anyone ever have this happen? does the ecu have an automatic short if you redline? im lost...the cars been running fine today, but i dont want to be stranded somewhere and not know what to do...thanks

check the connections UNDER the fuse box under the hood, Ive seen some with loose connections causing that problem..
also check on the EGR pipe, thats a known culprit for burning through wires/shorting

I bet it is the EGR pipe. I had the same problem so I took the egr out completely.

I wouldn't rule out the ecu. When mine died on me I could beat the crap out of it with a wrench and the car would crank. I did that for a couple of months before I figured out it was the ecu, got one off of ebay for $50. Been working fine ever since. But mine never blew a fuse, it would crank all day long just wouldn't fire up, no fuel/spark.
