Would that decrease power dramatically because its not letting the proper air in in a cylinder? If it was a spun bearing I wouldnt notice a decrease in power right? or is it the other way around?

There's no way you can be pig rich at 21 psi with 440s/SFMU only. What was your wideband air/fuel ratio on the dyno? Do you have the printout you can upload or e-mail to me?

I highly doubt it considering that the head was re-built only a month only.

Need to do a compression test to answer that question.

Correct. You shouldn't have a spun bearing unless you ran it dry. Even though the engine is still leak motor oil slightly, if it hasn't been run dry or lost pressure then it's fine. I highly doubt any problem with the crank/rotating assembly.

I'm thinking you ran it lean and messed up the pistons. You really need to do a compression test. Something isn't right here. I'll call you around noon. That sucks man!

Yea that is IMPOSSIBLE... something is definitely wrong. No way can yuo have THAT low HP readings.

No, he has other problems too. On the dyno, it would boost to 20 PSI then down to 10. Something is physically wrong.

damn man, i agree with the rest, there's something wrong very low compression wise, or you have a weak clutch...i was thinking boost leak but it couldn't be 'cause you're building pressure.. what clutch you're running? 21 psi IS kinda high running your fuel system but you can handle it if you have racegas. but good thing you really didn't reach it 'cause i'm sure you'd blow up and wasted tremendous money on your rebuild. post your graph!

I don't think you're getting enough fuel for 21psi honestly. Even with a rising rate fpr. Our ECU can run 550's and a 1:1 reg. but it's ass rich for city driving. I was seeing borderline results with my 40lb accels and the Cartech at ~17-18psi on a shitty turboxs mbc. I think the cartech is done for anyway, and by spring i'll probably have made the 1:1 conversion...with the dfi. we'll see how money goes.

Exhaust leaks before the turbo or after the turbo?

Leaks at the manifold will hurt performance substantially. Michael, I can't remember if you're running a composite or MLS gasket... but if it's composite, change it out. As for the downpipe flange leak, the bolts probably need tightened (if the gasket hasn't blown yet). Those bolts should always be re-torqued after the initial startup after installation. Copper gasket spray helps a lot as well.

A 45 degree fitting works well, and I think he installed a 90 degree fitting. Still, that alone won't cause an oil leak or restrict flow enough to be concerned. The fittings/bolts probably need tightened.

Well I need to start fixing stuff. I know for one the downpipe hangs too low and srapes like ass...too bad cuz it was a nice downpipe that Doug's bro..Matt made. Im prolly gonna get one of those downpipes from XtremeRs or something if I can get him to make one. Block off the EGR (thanks James) Might clock the turbo down to avoid that 90* bend off the top. Fix the knock/tick. All that leaves is the oil leak and the tranny leak that has pissed me off for 8 months.

Hey man. Sorry to hear that. That sounds a little low for even 10psi. When i dynoed mine at 8psi on my star kit it pulled 208 with a slipping clutch and detonating at 6200rpms. Like said above i think there is something wrong with your setup/buildup. Let me know if I can do anything to help ya out. I just got my car back and will be coming up that way in the next couple weeks to hang with dave.

So what did your BOOST GAUGE say when you made the dyno pull? If it said 21 psi during the run(not just a spike, then fall off), then I'd doubt it was an exhaust leak. If you can build 21 psi of boost then the leak can't be that bad really. But if you started at 21,then dropped off to 10, then there is def something wrong there. I'm justt wondering how we are getting 2 diff boost pressure numbers here? What was it during the pull? 21 or 10?

he told me that it went up to 21 then fell to 10. boost leak...

Yea during the pull it climbed to 21 right away but wont stay at it at all. It drops and stays right at 10. I do notice that driving on the road sometimes that I will be at like maybe 20-30% throttle and you can hear the turbo spooling nice but the car goes no where...does not even accelerate. Then if you increase the throttle like 10% and let it keep doing that you hear a POP...yea I know it aint right, I dont do it on purpose.

Just for the hell of it, I would do a compression test on it right away, just to rule out a mechanical issue with the engine. Then start working on finding and fixing all of your leaks. I'm not sure on your exact fuel setup, but I'm thinking you dont have large enough injectors to support the airflow at 21 psi, which means you could have run it really lean for a brief moment. Your A/F graph would show this though. Did you get an A/F ratio graph? Was what your A/F?

Yea I know my injectors are not suitable for 21 psi, I just remember Suieclipse doing the same and hitting almost 100 psi, I only get to 80 psi but still no need to stay up at 21 psi with them. There was no air/fuel ratio on the chart. Xtreme do you have an extra downpipe that you make to sell?

thats most likly your problem. I'd even turn the boost down fo te hell of it...like 15psi. use the soapy water and you'll see exactly where the problem is. don't get discouraged. ur car is teh hottness imo.

compression test #'s would benifit and tell you a lot too.

Just got done with my compression test and these are the #s

I do have a knockin/tickin noise right above the 1st cylinder, like I said earlier maybe a collapsed lifter...so think thats why its low there? btw I have je 8.8 pistons
Did a wet test on the 1st cyl. and it went to 205...does that mean re-ring job now?
EDIT: Oh yea taking the plugs out all of them were dry except the 4th one it was dry on top, but wet with oil on spark end.

Michael, this is from Doug and Matt.

Here's a better list for you:
fix tranny leak
fix engine oil leak
fix turbo oil leak
fix boost leak - intercooler coupler (this is why you have no accel.)
fix boost leak - EGT vac line (this is why your car dies)
fix downpipe leak
fix exhaust manifold leak (this should be the ticking you're hearing)
raise the damn suspension (so your downpipe don't hit the streets)
remove the boost controller (ease troubleshooting& stop running lean)
don't clock the turbo (no need to do this)
your compression isn't off enough to be concerned right now

Matt says do all that, grab a burrito, run for your border, and your car should be running much better.

If you need some help I should be able to come out to your house and help you fix these problems. I told you this is what happens when you put race car parts on your daily driver. You just need to very active and work on your car. You'll figure it out. I think all of us have been through this with our first project cars. Stick with it man.

Car is lifted up in the front. You can stick 3 fingers in there now. I need to raise the back up. These coilvers suck actually, you get what you pay for though.

I cleaned out the garage and going to attempt to get the car in there to tear the bish down fixing leaks....I just need to track them down. I need to do a flashlight test on the tranny see if its that seal.

Oh yea I am prolly gonna get one of those egr block off plates to block that off and cool the intake temps down...what you think?

Leave it off until everything is running perfect, then up the boost. I'm actually running at 7 psi currently until I get a few things fixed.

I emailed dude about buying a set of two from him, just waiting for his response now, but yea Doug...if he has two the kits on me... Only thing I can think of tho is that the kit he sells covers the side of the head at the front of the egr, but what about behind the manifold/tb where the other end of the hardpipe connects too...what do you put in that place? nothing?

As for the downpipe, Im debating what I want to do with that, if I want to cut and trim the pipe to lift it above the cross member, or just get one of Xtreme Rs's downpipes, everyone seems to love those. I cant keep my car up this high forever...guess I just have to do the 19" rim mod ha!

Flashlight test was what I read about in the forums how you take off that lil rubber stepped thing that protects around the shifter fork from dirt gettin in. You take that off and put a flashlight up in there and see if its dripping from where the imput shaft is...cuz damnit I dont know why my tranny is leakin or where.

As for coming down here...tonight (friday) they are having this thing at the speedway(fair grounds) where the stock cars run. and they let the public get on the track for $10 lol, its quite funny to me. But yea you can race around the track in your car or drag straight....and its all legal...so I might go check that out tonight. Yall should come, but yea we'll get together this weekend.
