Well i finished up my tokico/sportline install today, and what do you know, the car will NOT start at all no matter what i fiddle with/disconnect/anything. The last time this happened i cleaned the iac, changed out the fuel pump, and reset the ecu and it started just fine. Got to the shop, plugs were extremely white(more than ever). So, i was running lean, and the car was hesitating like a mofo. Well today i started the car to finish up the tokico/sportlines and it was perfect, the car has been sitting for three days and it fired right up without a problem. I got into the bay shut it down, got out the wood so i can jack the car up, and started the car again. I smelled something electrical but i didnt pay any attention to it at the time. Later tonight i tried to leave and the car just cranks and cranks. I tested the fuel port on the fuel rail and there isnt a drop of gas there. Fuel pump isnt priming!!! Now, from what i understand, the relay and crank angle sensor are pretty much the only two things that could make the pump stop working.(pump was replaced a few days ago with a new one). WTF is going on here?

If you click the key to the "ON" position, you should hear the fuel pump buzz for a second (listen closely). You can do this about two times in a row. After that, the ECU stops priming the pump. If you click the key to "ON" and don't hear anything, then your fuel pump is not getting power (or it is dead). Most likely, you will have a bad fuel pump relay (on drivers firewall). If you smelled burning electrical stuff, then you may have a shorted wire. Better trace all the fuel pump wires in this case. If you do hear the fuel pump buzz when the click the key to "ON", then you should probably look for other problems.

check fuel pump relay, fuel pump, CAS....but before that....wiggle your ECU boot and make sure the plug has a good connection. i fiddled with mine for 8 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with my car, boot was like 1/16" out and i guess not making a good connection. pressed it back in, no problems what-so-ever. like you i was checknig the cas, fuel pump, the relay...but it turned out just to bad a loose connection at the ECU. haha i felt like such a knoob

well i got the car to start this morning. i got to the spot where it died, unplugged the relay and plugged it back in and boom it started. I got my ohm meter and its reading 79 ohms, the haynes says between 35-75 ohms or replace. Im also getting a little resistance on the other two pins on the relay, and the book says i should have any at all. The pump works, you can hear it prime. I also didnt smell anything electrical on the way home. Ive checked wires again and again and i guess its the relay. run4cvr is sending me a fuel pump relay tomorrow hopefully if it checks out. Is my relay shot?
