I took off my throttle body today to do some cleaning, 175,000 miles. After cleaning, I hooked it back up and when I started the car it reved up to and stayed at 5k RPM's. Everything appears to be hooked up properly. Does anyone have any suggestions to bring the idile back to normal? I have a 95 eclipse with the 420a. Thanks

vacuum leak? do the usual, check for leaks, did you clean the surfaces well and use a new gasket?

check your gasket..That was my problem..I bought some RTV sealant(kicks ass) and fixed it..idle went back to normal.

Vacuum lines seem pretty solid. I did re-use the old gasket temporarly, I have a new gasket coming in on tuesday. I probably should have waited for the gasket before doing the maitanance. It crazy though, when I start the car it revs so high I have to kill it right away. Hopefully the gasket will help. Thanks for the help.

If you took out your IAC its possible that you may have pushed the plunger in a little ways and that will give you a high idle. It happened to me. If thats the case just pull it out a ways and when you set it back in the hole you will will have to push on it a little to make it sit flush on the throttle body and then tighten up the screws and you should be all set to go. Thats what I had to do anyways. Hope this helps
