Ok i am thinking about getting the 2.0l Top End High Performace kit from howell. It includes 1 pair of cam gears, 1 pair of cams (0010, 0012, or 0014), Timing Belt, Valve Springs, Lifters n Rockers n something else i cant remember..lol. Is it worth it? The following is the mods that i have already:

CAI, Header-Back Exhaust (2.25" No cat), Header, AF/X UDP, i am going to do the tb (most likely ported to 55mm) & p&p the intake manifold.

If i dont do the above (high-performance kit), then (it would be the same cost) i would go w/ a full race head from dark enhancment & a zex wet kit.

What do you guys think?

IMO you will spend ALOT of money and get barely any results.
its this NA vs turbo debate, its MUCH cheaper to make power through a turbo vs NA buildup.

but yeah if you want all motor thats the way to do it, just keep spending money.

I am not going to have enought for a turbo, not even a stage 1. By the time i do save enought for a turbo i will buy a new car (and keep my dsm as a project lol)

What are you getting in this "race head" package? Just a port/polish/valve job and your old bits put back in? If so, I can see how you could go either way.

With the head package, you'd get cams and a fresh set of internals, which would give you a head that makes better use of the other bolt ons you've got already. I'm sure if you went the 12s you'd be pleasantly pleased with the car for a good while.

With the headwork, you'd be reusing your old internals and how many miles do they have on them now? The nitrous system would give you a thrill once in a while (since it's on demand), but you would have to refill it.

Personally, I'd go with the head kit from Howell. The cams would always be there and you'd have fresh bits dancing around up there. The benefits of the other bolt ons would be maximized all the time and your car would be generally quicker. You could also find a local shop to mill your head and maybe get a nice 3 angle for under $100 more, so you would get some of the benefits of the race head in that regard.

Just my .o2

The head pkg from howell does not come with new internals, if they did i would get those, but they don't lol hence my situation....

I have all the info on the race port at home, i will post it when i get there as i am at work, but this is the best of my recollection: P&P Cylinder Heads (Intake & Exhaust Outlets), Deck the Head, and bore to .35 over, Smooth out the Combustion Chamber.

Umm what do u think? PS Why would i enjoy the 12's for alittle while? lol

still to much lol. Back to my original question, i want a quick car, dosen't have to be blazing fast, altho i saw a 11.1 dsm (and he has to still tune some more so he will get 10 sec's easy) @ dynamic turbo today n 2 tt supra's and a n/t converted turbo supra w/ 850whp.

lol so anyways....I will have 2k minus i need to get a new hood & paint the car (have some hookups so im looking at about 1.5k engine wise) I posted that i am getting a tb & intake mani p&p for me and that is not included in teh 1500$, so im looking at getting one range colder spark plugs, make sure i have a good compression and get a wet kit, that leaves me with 1000$ so then a race port head from dark enhancment which i mentioned it includes:

-Resurfaced lightly for cleaning purposes
-Intake ports gasket matched, fully ported & highly polished (Fel-Pro Gaskets were used in porting so i would use this in installation)
-Exhaust port dividers are knife edged to increase exhaust flow (pockets fully ported)
-5 angle valve job
-Combustion Chambers are bowl blended & highly polished (heard this might increase compression, does it?)
-This is a stage III head, can be upgraded to stage IV by adding REV 1mm over-sized valves (which would cost 355$ more w/ the seats to accomodate the bigger valves)

So with a p&p intake manifold, 55mm or 60mm tb, cai, 2.25" Header-back exhaust, a header, udp, the race head and nitrous what am i looking at? The nitrous n port would run me 1k$ plus install so that would be what i have, what do you guys think?

EDIT: Then later on i would obviously get cams n cam gears, but not until i save more $$ lol, damn modding is fun, but costs $$ gotta love it tho hehe like its said:

Chose any 2: Cheap, fast, good

If you want a fast & cheap car, it will not run good (well lol)
If you want a good & cheap car, it will not be fast
If you want a fast & good car, it will not be cheap (DAMN!!! LOL)

I could always:

Stage III Race Head : $500
Top End Kit from Howell: $999.95
Basic 2.0 Rebuild from Howell: $384.21
Wet Kit: $450

$2334.16 all of which would be uninstalled lol.....But seriously now what should i get first: a) Top End Kit b)Race head w/ Wet Kit, If i go w/ with option b i would get cams & cam gears later on (which is included in the Top End kit, but i would not get Rockers or Lifters, stock redline isn't too high so i don't forsee a problem).
