After the car warms up, there is an audible hissing noise from either the power steering pump, or the belt/pulley. It has only been present since I did my T-belt/UDP job. UDP is new, Gatorback belts are new as well. Power steering pump fluid is at the proper level as well.

I retensioned the accesory belts after the initial install as new belts stretch and loosen after being installed.

Has anyone experienced this? Throw some ideas at me please.

EDIT: Neither of the two belts show signs of irregular wear from the AF/X not being fully installed against the crank. It is perfectly lined up. The sound is strongest from the P/S pump/pulley.

Pump may be going out.

Remove/loosen belt and turn pulley by hand. If there is resistance/grinding (you know what I mean), then it is probably going out.

This sound has come from my PS pump when the fluid was low. You may try removing all the fluid from the pump/lines and then refilling it. It will take a little bit to get the air out, but contamination/dirt might be causing this noise. It might be preventing the fluid from flowing properly (or whatever it does inside the darn thing).

Lucas also makes a powersteering fluid conditioner. I used about half a bottle in my system. Make sure you use actual PS fluid. It has conditioners in the fluid that will help with the seals etc. It also keeps it running much quieter. If you used brake fluid in it (lots of people do), this might be part of the problem.

Interesting idea about the conditioner man. Might be worth looking into regardless. All my noises are belt related. Cheap belts after 12k miles. You get what you pay for.

Fluid is nearly brand new (and correct, not brake fluid). I brought it into my shop today to let my techs take a look at it. I let is sit on the drive on rack to warm up, but it did not make as loud of a noise (even after sitting inside and moving the wheel back and forth to get the pump working). It was faint, but not enough for the techs to be able to tell me if it was something to worry about. Either way, a new pump (at my cost) is not terrbile, but something I am not jumping over to replace.

I will update with any further/new information. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I might try half a bottle of the Lucas syrup =]
