ok i finally got my entire ehaust system hooked up.
i have a Greddy header, OBX high flow cat, and an HKS sport ehaust. every gasket has sealent on it and everything is tight and not directly touching anything else.
whenever i accelerate hard, at 3500 or 4500 on up it starts this buzzing/ratteling! It sounds like one of those honda fartcans.
for the money spent on this im PISSED! if i accelerate slowely it dosent start untill 5000+.
is there anyway to eliminate this? if i wrap the ehaust in thermal wrap, will that work?
ill try anything here!

thanks in advance!

get a resonator imo. not sure if it will eliminate the sound all together but it will make it a lot less noticeable.

throw the greddy and hks away. put the stocker back on. no more buzz.

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

first off the stockers were sacrificially shredded, so no going back. (it was really fun though)
it sounds really good at low -mid RPM, just once the velocity gets going. its wierd!
i thought the obx one was a resonator? it is straight through and looks like a glass pack.
what do you guys use for a resonator?

i will check the heat shields though, thx!

I had the same problem bro. I have a DC header, high flow cat and HKS hiper exhaust...it was raspy as hell at RPMS 3000-4000. Like the others say just get a resonator. Thats what I did. It helped a lot. I believe someone on this board was selling resonated test pipe, which sounds pretty cool. But if you want to get rid of the noise go to a local muffler shop and have them install a resonator for you.

I've read that the cherry bomb straight through resonator is the best. Resonators are usually the fix for any bumble-bee sound that is created from an exhaust system, so slap one on and call it a day. MMMKAY.

actually the obx is a shitty resonator which gives the sound. it isnt the header or the exhaust. put your stock cat back on. =) trust me, i know.....

I know this is off topic, but do you have any pics of the HKS sport on your car? sorry for going off topic. But yea, I say get rid of the high flow and if that doesnt work, get a resanator welded in.

it'll definetly work if you put the stock cat back on. Its the matter of wanting a complete free flowing exhaust. Getting a resonator will keep the performance and reduce the raspy noice. Having the stock cat on will reduce the free-flow however prevent that annoying farting noise. But if you are NT then there really isnt a huge difference...like the members say it isnt your header nor your exhaust, its definetly the cat. I had the same trouble with the noise and have been messing with it for quite some time...I just got a resonator.
