#75378, "-AN Fittings for return line"

I was looking in the "mods" section trying to learn how to make the car with a return line. I think I understand 95% of it. The only thing Im having a hard time understanding is, Im using my stock rail with the schrader valve taken out and thats a -4 AN fitting. Well Im going to use -6 AN s/s hose. This might be a stupid question and Im just having a brain fart, but what type of fitting do I look for that excepts the -6 AN s/s hose and screws into the -4 AN schrader valve on the stock fuel rail?
Also in the write up of the return system, he states to use "regular fuel line hose with clamps" for the feed line from the pump and the cut it in half to place the fuel filter and clamp that aswell. Now how do you do that if the end of the feed line coming out of the tank is a fitting that you have to unbolt to take off? I would think you make 2 lines out of s/s and fitting with the filter bolted and it bolted to the feed side of the tank. I dont know, what do you guys think? Sorry this is so long. Thanx in advance

first off, ask yourself, why do you NEED a 6AN return line? then ask yourself, especially if you only have a 4AN outlet. what is it your trying to gain?

Ok, so I should just run -4an fittings? I just thought that -4 an is kinda small. Of course Im running the setup for the turbo upgrade and I was just going off of the connections of the SFMU. But if you guys think that -4an is fine than so be it. Remember you guys have already done this, so Im going off what you guys did and what opinions and recommedations you give me. Thanx for the post!!!

I havent gotten my writeup done but what i have done is not used the shrader outlet at all. I took the factory rubber line out cut it put 6 an socketless fittings on it and put a 6 an tee in it. I then ran a 6an line to the SFMU where the outlet for the return was changed to a 4an that runs to the frame, coupled to a aluminum hardline that goes back to the tank.

yes, the SFMU has 6AN fittings, but all you need to do is just get some reducers and your golden. you'll find a lot of different "ideas" about larger fuel lines on here. But this is my "end-of-story" opinion. unless you change or modify your stock rail, there is no point in going any bigger into a stock fuel rail because you still have that little 90* inlet elbow on the rail that is still restricting your fuel in back down to a 1/4" inlet (4AN

6AN into a 4AN rail and back out to a 6AN return = 4AN fuel system.

Now if you do have a different rail, then thats a whole nother discussion, but the genreal concensus is for the amount of HP most on here will do, 6AN is overkill. 4 AN is fine.

here, take a gander at this:

Yeah unless you are pushing BIG boost I don't see a need for more than -6An feed -4AN return. You don't want you return so big that the fuel sits in the rail. You want a good pressure across the rail, and to keep fuel flowing, not stagnant in the rail.
