#75346, "My timing belt!!!"

Last night around about 3a.m. in the morning my engine just quit running but everything was still on! I thought I ran out of gas so I was by a gas station, tried to crank it back up and guess wut the belt is very loose, so latter on in the morning I came back to get it. Wut could be the problem of this happening, I went to the races last night ran 2 times and just chilled the rest of the night. Could it had been that I raced cuz lask weekend my p/s-a/c belt flew off when I raced? Any answers!

sounds like maybe your tensioner went bad or one of the idler bearing is shot. No way to tell for sure till you take it apart.

Just because you should've got a new belt doesn't mean you actually did. By the numbers, you were past due for your second one to be changed. emoji

lol, belt isnt the biggest thing to worry about when doing rebuild. ya its good to get another one, but if you have 100k+ mile idle pullies and a leaking tensioner, your going nowhere quick.

I agree I'm about to do mine soon. It was just done about 20k ago..but I have to take it off to do cam gears and UDP.

I'm going to replace it just for mind sake.

there is lots to do. i had to undo the passenger side motor mount and loosen the front moutn a bit. i didn't want to drill holes into my frame so i just jacked the motor upand down until i was able to get access to the udp. u're gonna need tq wrenches, extra hands and an oven if ur taken the pulley off.

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

Well you may have messed up valves or pistons when the belt broke? As for the HG I would call the guy who installed your "used" engine and ask him if it is the orignal HG. IF it is then just replace it while you are there cause it will need it eventually anyway..
