Hey guys, I was driving around today making deliveries (I'm a delivery boy) and my car just died on me. I floored the clutch and cranked the engine and it started right up only to die again almost right away. After awhile, I could keep the engine running but every once in awhile the RPM would drop like crazy to almost zero only to jump right back up again. Then the CEL came on. I did the key dance and the codes are 12-25-55. I know 12 and 55 are nothing but 25 is the Idle Air Control Motor Circuit. I checked my harness and connector and it's plugged in tight. Any ideas? How should I check for vacuum leaks? And how do I adjust my idle? I read something that said the idle should hit 1k200RPM. How do I do that? Thanks a lot in advance guys.

tps.... check the wiring going to and from the tps and map sensors... (garenteed its in that circut)
next to check for vac. leaks..... u do a visual of course.... then there are multiple ways the cheep mans way: get one of those propane welding torches.. *like 7-10$* turn it on slightly and slowly run the nozzle arounfd the intake manifold and vacume tubing... if there is a leak your rpms will jump up.
best way tho is to go buy a vac gauge *about 20$* (even does fuel pressure) hook that up to any vac line off of the intake manifold... you should see 15-17 of pressure...... any lower and youve got a leak.. this is a great tool... used to find everything from intake vac leaks to broken or weak valve springs-to a blown head gasket. Definitly a good investment.

Well I did suspect it was my TPS before because I have been having this problem for quite a while now only before, it happens like once every two weeks or so. Today, it happened so many times in the span of like 30 minutes. Anyway, I changed my TPS already so it's brand new. I think I'll follow your advice and invest in the vacuum gauge. Thanks for all the help so far guys. As for the IAC, hopefully that's the last option. If I really need a new one, I'll PM or e-mail you. I'd be happy if I could get more opinions for you veterans. Thanks.

dont forget your map too bro..... tps and map are in the same circut.... cut back the plastic around your harness going to the tps and map and make sure the insulation didnt run threw.. ya know... if its not one of those then ya u gotta pretty good leak going on..
