The belt, tensioner, and water pump all looked very good for having nearly 60K miles on them. Regardless, I replaced everything.
The most frustrating part was attempting to get the 3 long bolts out of the side motor mount bracket. I had to remove all three motor mounts to get enough range of movement. In my fits of rage, I was jacking up the motor and was not paying attention and the motor rolled backwards, crushing the IAT sensor against the fierwall. Needless to say that made me even angrier. Had to put down the tools and walk away for a bit at that point.

if you dont mind me asking, what was the total damage for parts? I am comin up on 120,000 and need to do the same thing. the first time I had satan do the 60,000 service, but I am thinkin of doin it myself this time and save some cash. Oh how long did it take you?? I am not afraid of the work I am just trying to decide if the money saved is worth the headaches or not.. TIA

I work in a shop, so I got most of the parts at cost price. Total damage was:
100.00 for Gatorback T-belt kit and pulleys 140 for UDP @Howell 16.00 for thermostat @Howell 40 for new water pump & gasket ~50.00 for both gatorback accessory belts ~25.00 for both radiator hoses 90.00 for tensioner from Bob Kise 20.00 RRE braided clutch line
That is ~481.00 in parts. Subtract the stuff I had that you do not need and that is what you got. Consider you will need supplies like jack, jackstands, tools, torque wrenchs, assorted fluids (parts cleaner, RTV, threaadlocker).
By inner Timing belt are you referring to the inner timing belt cover? Then yes, it does need to be removed, in which case you need to remove the Cam gears. I did it a ghetto way by shoving a screwdriver between the gears, but I do not recommend this. Snap-on and other tool manufactures make DOHC Cam gear locks. I highly suggest getting them. I tried tying mine together first with high-test line, but it only snapped.
I spent about 8 hrs doing everything. I wasted time at two points: taking the cam gears off, and installing the UDP. I did not have a pulley installer (most kits I have seen have installer studs with the right M14 bolt but not the 1.75 pitch that are crank bolts are) so I spent about an hour just hammering it on with a driver and hammer. Took WAY too long.
With the 160 Stat, the Temp gauge sits just below the midline where it use to sit with the OE 195. Even at a stop light here in Phoenix it stays cooler. Now I just need some 120* heat to test it.

Yeah the 1/2" drive torque wrench is bad ass, Snap-on. Wish it was mine though. It is my boss's, the 3/8" one is mine and that ran me 220.00. So I would say the 1/2" digi- is at least a 100.00 more.
