Oil drenched sparkplug wells awhile back and I had cleaned it out and bought new sparkplugs to replaced old ones....posted the problem here and fellow 2gnt'ers said it was valve cover gasket/ring leakage. I was planning on replacing valve cover + rings but just never had the chance to but lately(as couple days now)after hard driving I popped hood open and find little puddles of oil on top of enginge bay by top of sparkplugs ( what I'm trying to say is it is outside of sparkplug wells on top of engine bay). So I'm really worried that by not replacing the valve cover n rings major trouble is headed if I don't replace it ASAP. All responses is appreciated

replacing the valve cover gaskets are easy. just take off about 10 bolts, then throw the new gaskets in there. if you have a haynes manual it will outline it thouroughly. trust me, even with NO auto experience whatsoever you can do this. good luck man. emoji

oh, and the only bad thing that will happen is you losing all that oil. Although i do have a cool story for you...

my friend had a 99 GSX, he bought it for 18k back in the day. because of your same oil in the spark plugs problem it caused a huge engine fire. the insurance gave him 12k for it(it was worth about 15k at the time). he later finds out the tow truck thought it was FWD and towed it with the rear wheels on the ground! To avoid a lawsuit the tow company offered him a 10k payout no questions asked. 12k + 10k - 18k = 4k profit out of the whle deal.

Id take $18k, buy me a RS with $10k for mods (turbo + 2.4L swap).
Anywho, I had the same problem and changing the gasket cured it. hope you've already changed it by now.
