Alright guys sorry this is so long but I had to tell you what happened yesterday when I went to the shop to look at the Engine. 1st off, I wanted to take photos of the piston and EGR and they automatically told me "no". Gee I wonder why????? Secondly, the owner of the shop still tried to say it was the EGR valve that caused the damage to the piston. The piston wasn't cracked at all, it was gaulded. Meaning the side of the pistons were scratched up however they were still covering the damage done this 1 time under warranty because they didnt have that EGR valve on the suggested items to repair or replace. I looked over the piston that damaged and kept my mouth shut told them to replace the EGR valve and since it was there, clean and service the injectors also and got it in writing. Later, my mechanic friend and I started talking about possibilities of what could have caused the gaulding. Now I'm no expert but I do know a little bit about the pistons and the way it works and what my friend and I came up with was 1 of 2 things, Either the installation of piston #1 and/or all of them was completely screwed up so thats why they are covering it or the Injectors were so bad that it caused it to run too lean and heated up the rings to a point where they expanded too much causing the piston to stay stuck on or scrape the cylinder wall. I honestly think it was a combination of their oversight and because I didnt have the injectors serviced when I was there the 1st time. Either way, the problem is getting fixed with a cylinder sleeve, new piston and should be ready in about 10 days or so.

Damn. You need to seriously make sure no other board members go there in the future man. Unless you had them install higher CR pistons, it's not generally going to matter which way they are installed. I mean, you can only install them 2 way and unless they're domed and have specific recesses cut (flyways?) for the valves to clear them, they shouldn't have any problems. Just jokingly remind them that a happy customer tells a couple people, but a fucked over customer tells everyone. Maybe mention that you're a member of the largest second generation DSM organization in the country and you were told to get some pics for future reference as it could help others who may have the same "EGR" problem later on. emoji
