I posted this on another site... but I'll post it here too. Looking for any ideas:
Ok, so here's the story:
As I was getting to work today I noticed that the oil pressure was kinda on the low side. Checked the oil and she was down about a quart. Right before I drove home today I added a quart of oil. Oil was then at the normal level. On starting the car oil pressure was great. Had around 65psi at idle. But driving home I noticed the pressure dropped as the motor warmed up... which is normal, only the pressure seemed to drop more than normal. Before long I only had around 25psi... even at 4k. If I let the rev's drop below 2k the pressure would really start to drop down towards 10psi! So basically I kept the revs up over 2k the whole way home... which required a little heal and toe at traffic lights...lol Anyway, so I manage to limp her home... only a few times did I let the pressure get below 2k... only for a second or two. So after limping her home my 50 mile drive I parked her... well shut her down as I rolled into my parking spot.
So what the fuck happened? I checked the oil level andit was fine... no sign of leak... no smoke... engine temp was normal.
It seems that once the motor warms up I get a drastic drop in oil pressure... any ideas?
I'm thinking either my rod bearings took a leave of absence... but that's not likelly given the fact that the car still drove fine and didnt knock like a bitch. Or there must be something fucked up in the oil pump/ pressure regulator department.
I'll tow her down to my buddys garage and see what I can find out tomorrow. Just looking for any ideas.
You may ask why did I keep driving at that point... well I figured something was fucked, and any damage would have already been done. So I figured oh well.... lol
