I have been waiting for it to happen, though I wish it would of waited a little longer. My poor engine is now one good rev away from throwing a rod. It must of sounded like I was dragging a bunch of cans behind me when I came home last night..lol a few of the neighbors came outside to see what all the noise was about.
So now im stuck with a dilema, buy something else to drive and spend a few years paying it off, or max out a credit card and get a new engine put in.
I was looking in the paper this morning and I can get a :sigh: '99 cavalier for $99 a month... either way I need something soon since I dont feel like walking 20 miles to work everyday.
Any ideas on where I could get a engine or anything helpful would be appreciated, I live in the chicago/NW indiana area so if anyone knows a place that does engines.... let me know

you can prolly find a used 420a from a junk yard for around 5-600. less if you know someone getting rid of one. and their not hard to install. run some 20w-30 for a bit.

I can get a block from the junkyard for $150 or less... Only thing is that I have never done a engine removal/install anyone have a checklist or something of what I need to do/where I need to start in the removal process?

You're lucky to be in the Chicago area. There's mass 2GNTers up there. The 2 names that come to mind at the moment are Michael_97RS and Silver NT. They both work for ERT and know a lot. If I were you, I'd max out the card on a rebuild and make those $99/month payments on it then buying some POS you hate. Fixing it is almost always a better idea than starting over from scratch. You're pretty much in 2GNT central there. LOL. Phoenix = 2GNT-WEST. Houston = 2GNT-SOUTH. Chicago/Indy = 2GNT-MIDWEST. NYC = 2GNT-EAST. imo...
