the JE logo on the inside goes toward the exhaust side if i remember correctly. i will try and find my instructions. the rods dont matter, but i faced all my numbers inscribed on the side pf the rod towards the waterpump end.

Not so. Maybe if they are stock or lower compression, but I can say from experience that the 10.5:1s are a one way job. If they're in backwards, they will contact the head at TDC and you'll have to pull them out and turn them around. And that really sucks.
I have pictures at home I could post up later, but nothing now. I remember the dooshbag at the machine shop saying "the side that has this line in it like an 'I' is the intake side." He was back asswards imo. Like I said. We went to set timing and the crank would just go so far and then go clunk.

I guess my experience would have to relative then. I just noticed we were talking about JEs. I have teh "Marshmallows," er Wisecos as tool calls them in Daisy. Same principal applies though.

on the eagle rods...theres a small indent tab where the rod bearing clips into, this is the exhasut side. also, im not sure if the JE's you have are directional, i'd call JE _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

there is a difference.....like michael said...look at the valve reliefs. the side the larger valve reliefs are on, need to line up with the side of your head with the larger valves. Look at it, it'll make sense.

0k, i have what i believe are custom made stock or slightly lower than stock compression...somewhere in the range of 9.4-9.6...anyways, the valve releifs are the same size... im guessing it doesnt matter which way they go in....unless anyone tells me otherwise, im just sticking them all in one way....thanks doug
