#7248, "New engine Stalls when i stop !!"

Hey guys, for all those who know i've finally gotten my car back, but ever since i got it, it's been stalling. It stalls when i come to a complete stop, i'll downshift and slowly stop, but if i don't stop slow enough, the car stalls. It seems as though the car wants to idle around 300 rpms for a short while, then kicks itself back up to 700-800.

I also have an odd fuel managment system, that is delivering 35 psi w/stock injectors at idle, and around 47 psi when driving, if any of that helps us decide what might be happening.

Do you have a lightened flywheel? I've heard of this causing similar probs.

Could try sdjusting the set screw that sets the throttle plate angle. ir the IAC sensor, maybe TPS.

Yes, i have a lightened flywheel, itz non-modular though. I have a 97 block w/je pistons, crower rods, port and polished head, w/new valves, springs, and sleeves. The head is a 97 head w/the 97 cams. I don't know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be, i'm HRC bought a stage II kit, but i obviously went well beyond that, and i had continuious problems w/the fuel pressure reg. that came w/the kit, so i went with another system. what should the fuel pressure be at, at idle?

Didn't realize what mods you had in my original response, so I'll try again. OK so 8.0:1 pistons, stock injectors, aftermarket FPR, stage II. What type of FPR did you end up getting and what ratio is it. Since you have lower compression, you'll need a slightly different amount of fuel than stock 9.6:1 compression at the same boost level. But...the recommended fuel pressure for stock compression is a good start...Here are the stock comp fuel #'s

idle: 45-55 psi
6 boost: 80-90 psi
9 boost: 105-110 psi

You need to verify that your FPR is capable of a similar fuel pressure curve. Then you could change the pressures some watching your EGT's and A/F. Considering that you have 8.0:1 pistons now, whats keeping you from dumping the stock injectors and upping the boost (maybe using an Accel DFI and following HRC's recommendations for fuel).

idle FP should be around 47-55psi according to HRC's manual.
