I know this is your first day and your first post, so I'll be gentle for once, but you need to search before you post cuz the other guys will go nuts on you....and usually I would too.

knobs? what do you mean knobs at 800, 2400? If its the very 1st generation safc that doesnt have the blue screen I dont think those have ever worked on our cars.

yes, its a 1gen. the knobs you can only adjust 800rpm, 2400rpm and what not. i didnt know about the newer ones though, looking for something that didnt stick out i guess. like i said, i did do a search but they are all for hook ups on 97+. they have more then 60 pins. i guess ill try searching again.

Pin count doesn't matter. Pinouts don't matter. The colors are always the same. Go by color, otherwise you'll fuck it up.

ahright i got the wiring part down. now i just need to order the safc. i have read alot of pdf files on hook ups for the original afc with the knobs, which is what i want but someone said they probly wont work. there are specific settings on the back of it that are for those certain cars, and the 420a is not in it. so im assuming the digital one is the only way to go?

you cant order the one with knobs, you might be able to find it on ebay but you want the latest one.

breakdown of afc/safc

afc = air flow computer- black body was the first and the only one with knobs

safc = SUPER air flow computer- silver body, blue screen, has 6 buttons

safcII (2) = super air flow computer II (2)- the latest generation. silver body has a joystick thing next to the screen.

what your talking about is a afc. and like someone above said...i dont think they ever got the afc to work on a 420a. just pick up a safc or safcII. much better than the one with knobs and has alot more features. and yes....search. its been answered 5864948586843032394848 times emoji

ebay is where i was gonna get it, (that japandy guy) they are like 109 dollars. the only thing stopping me is the compatibility issue. the safc has switches on the back for specific cars. the closest thing is a 4g63. any ideas? or am i being a pain in the ass with this

Yes. What you are talking about has been tried and doesn't work, and the device you're talking about buying is not an SAFC, but an AFC (there's a difference). Buy an SAFC or an SAFC2, they work, there's no switches, and they look cool emoji

Dude what the hell are you talking about? Read the auction title. "USED APEXI AFC AIRFLOW CONVERTER Not SAFC VAFC JDM." It clearly says Not SAFC.

Since you have some issues with reading before you stick your foot in your mouth, I would highly suggest you invest your hard earned money in some Hooked on Phonics before you go and try to flame people on this forum that obviously have more knowledge in their pinky finger than you do in your whole body.
