#71198, "major problem need help ASAP!!!!(kinda long tho)"

Yesterday morning I went to start my car and to my suprise it did not start....well it kinda did I guess so I opened up the hood and checked the trans and engine fluids and found that the I ran out of engine fluid so I went and bought some then went home and filled it up, started the car and still it did not start so I checked the spark plug compartments(I don't know what it is called but I'm refering to the 4 cylindrical slots on top of the engine bay)...and found that all 4 slots including the sparkplugs were DRENCHED in engine oil!! I then cleaned each and everyone and went out and bought new spark plugs and after installing the new spark plugs I attempted to start the car and still not start so I got my uncle to help me and he finally got it to start. My Question is does this sort of problem normally occur or did I blow my headgassket or something??????

Don't mean to be an asshole, but puncuation and paragraph breaks go a long way towards making your posts more readable.

As far as the low oil goes, anything more than two quarts low leaves the dipstick dry. Consumption of one quart of oil (not engine fluid. Oil.) every 3000 miles or so is normal behavior, per the owners manual. Leaks add up, too. Keep your eye on it.

The sparkplug wells normally fill up with oil when the valvecover gasket rings that seal them begin to leak. Happens all the time. The headgasket is under the head, not on top.

Can I fix this by buying new valvecover gasket rings?

If I can where can I buy them?

You can, while it's off replace the valve cover gasket and the 4 spark plug well gaskets.

Auto parts store may have them, dealer definately will.

Yes, it should solve the problem, but do not go to Mitsubishi. Your best bet would be to go to a Dodge dealership and buy the valvecover/sparkplug well gasket set. just ask for one that goes on a 1995+avenger 4cyl, or 1995-99 neon dohc gasket set.

If you go to Mitsubishi, they will charge you twice what Dodge will.

Its a 5minute job, so just do it yourself.

Aren't you glad you found this place?

Seriously, you can do the gasket swap with a basic socket set and about an hour. One of the easiest things to do n these cars. emoji

back to the original question....

when you say the car isnt starting, do you mean it cranks but doesnt turn over, or theres absolutly nothing going on when you turn the key? have you tried jump-starting it? is your battery ok? oil leaks dont cause starting problems (well, unless the engine is siezed, but youd still hear the starter squealing away, lol), so theres a seperate problem here.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:
