Hey I have a 95 GS and right around the PCV valve on either ends there is a oily residue..if i wipe it clean it will be back within a few days..what could this be???

if you want to know if your PCV valve is good and not clogged or leaking do this.... Step1...Pull the pcv valve out while the car is running, if you see fumes coming from the hole, you have blowby, which is oil(compression) making it past your pistons, if you dont, then put the pcv valve back in, then remove the hose on the other end and see if it as any suction on your hand if it does, its working, if it doesnt its bad

I had some residue on the top of my valve cover a couple of months ago (right after I had my HG replaced). My PCV valve hose was broken where it enters the head. It was hardened from the heat and broke into pieces pretty easily. When I got a replacement, it was very soft and pliable. I haven't had any residue since. -Tony
