Alright guys, just did a compression test on my stock motor. Here's the results...

Cyl 1 - 190

Cyl 2 - 210

Cyl 3 - 180

Cyl 4 - 200

They're all over the place and I'm pretty concerned about the 210-180 difference. Does this require immediate attention or am I alright? emoji

that's not too bad.. i've seen worst. I would keep an eye on it more frequently now, and start saving to rebuild before too long.

Well I'd really like to open up my car now that it's going to be intercooled (we're installing my HRC SMIC right now) so is it alright to run it hard as long as I do frequent tests and watch it?

Looks fine to me.

Of course, i have very lax standards. If it were me, it could be 150-190-210-180 and i'd probably still drive it and not care.

But you have the tools and know-how to rebuild it in 1 hour and have it back on the rode. emoji

I'm a poor college student and if this thing pops and I don't have all of the cash handy then it's getting parted out or sold.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. emoji

Glad to hear that, considering my 10.5:1 rebuild is netting my can't-install-piston-rings-for-shit-ass 190s across the board. :| Drive it till it drops imo. emoji
EDIT:
or until you're switching out the old head for a built one and can install some Total Seals then since you're lazy and don't feel like pulling the engine twice a year.

hahahah....that's my thoughts exactly. I could give two shits about the whole theory with respect to needing no more than a 10-15% variance from cylinder to cylinder.

My theory is, if it cylinder in our 420a's is better than 150 or so, it's all good. Whether cylinder #1 says 150 and #4 is 224, or they're 180 across.
