#70888, "Apparently injectors AREN'T supposed to rattle LOL"

Well I just got my 4 new injectors. When I took the ones out of my car I shook them and noticed 1/4 didn't rattle so I figured "Oh, this one must be stuck open and that's why it isn't making noise." Well, when I got my new Accel injectors I shook them and NONE OF THEM RATTLED LOL

So apparently instead of 1/4 injectors being fuxored I had 3/4 injectors gone bad.

Anyway, I'm installing new injectors, plugs, sreamin demon coil pack, and MSD wires when i get home today. If that doesn't solve my mysterious High idle, flooded engine problem I'm just gonna blow it up LOL

quick question... might save me some money... how tough is it to remove fuel rail/injectors? I dont have my haynes with me so this question could probably be answered if I were home... uh... What exactly is involved in swapping injectors?

Removal of two 13mm(i think, might be 11mm) bolts on the rail mount bracket, 4 harness plugs. Unbolting the coilpack helps. Look at it, it'll all make sense. Unbolt the rail from the intake manifold, and wiggle.

Just to keep this on topic,

No, Aaron, injectors aren't supposed to rattle. If that doesn't fix it, don't blow it up, just sell it to me real cheap.

You can test injectors by hooking up a 9v battery to each connector for a split second. It'll click open and closed if the solenoid is working.

You should also measure the resistance across leads as described in the Chiltons.

Finally, take off the o-rings, and soak the tip in Acetone or Fingernail Polish remover for an hour, and put a few drops inside the rail-side of the injector too. This cleans any fuel gunk out. I suppose you could use the Autozone fuel injector cleaner right out of the bottle too, altho that's probably just diluted Acetone.

The injector on the left is clogged with fuel gunk:

Red Ground Wire Kit ::cough:: emoji It has helped with everyone elses idle(keeps it steady atleast...) Goodluck, you'll like the coil, re-gap the plugs too. SD recommends .065 and I've been running it for a month and I'm pleased.
