I took some valves out of an old head and am putting them in my head, my friend said something about gettin the bottom of the head where the valves seal...reseated....do I have tooooo?? I dont want to spend anymore money, he said I wouldnt have any compression if I didnt.

Yes, def have a valve seat grind done, esp since you are not using the valves that came out of your cylinder head..

That's correct... it shouldn't cost much to have that done though. It's kind of hit-or-miss if they'll work properly without getting it done. You should take the head and valves to Napa or Mike's Speed Shop while you're on spring break this week. Did you and Matthew drop the tranny last night?

Yea, Doug im still over here at your house, Matthew and I dropped the tranny and we went up stairs for abit and feel asleep lol. We were gonna talk to you last night if it wasnt so late if we should go ahead and put in my Spec 3 clutch, we kinda got confused with the the transaxle seals and the imputshaft seal. I hope they are both the same.

I used this technique on my 4g63 engine with 150k miles on it when I installed brand new Stainless OEM replacements. My compression is 190-185-190-185. Not perfect, but close enough. Cost me $15.

This probably does NOT apply to *your* engine or valves. If you are in doubt, always take it to a machinist. Just wanted to mention it.
