#70838, "clicking type noise driving me nuts"

When I start my car it makes a clicking type noise as if it were to be a belt. The higher the rpms the louder/faster the noise gets. Its coming from the left side of the engine and it not the power steering or alternator belts.Could it be the timing belt not having enough tension on it? I put a new built block in and did the 60k on including new tensioner.

could be lifters. Try throwing in a can of "restore" in the silver can.

I thought it could have been too but its the same head and the lifters never made that noise before.

could it be your timing belt cover itself? sounds dumb, but when I had my cams/cam gears installed, ever since then I couldn't have that little extra plate on there.. made one hell of a racket when I noticed it was on the back seat and reinstalled it... suffice to say, I took it off about 2 seconds later and I'm not sure where it currently resides.
