#6998, "1/4 Mile ET's and MPH"

I have been comarping ET's and MPH's between cars a little bit and I have found that generally eclipses (Non-Turbo) seem to have a fast ET and a slower MPH as compared to a Ford Taurus and a Acura Integra GSR. Example: My ford Taurus SE consistently runs a 15.60-15.70 and gets a final MPH of about 96MPH. My friends Acura Integra GSR runs a 15.50-15.60 consistently and he runs at about 97 or 98MPH. With my eclipse GS I run a 15.70 and get a 86MPH, and I have noticed this with a lot of other eclipse times. Eclipse times in the 15.50-15.70 range have MPH's of 86-89. 89MPH is a big difference from 96MPH. What attributes to this? Is it the car in general just doesn't have the finishing punch or is it because modifications (The GSR and Taurus are non modified) increase the ET because of a quicker start but dont have as much finish. What do you think?

Ok wait disregard that message i posted it without thinking. Most of the MPH's i am comparing are from a GTECH pro and although its accurate it uses a different method for measuring the max MPH than the strip times so even though its fairly accurate the MPH times tend to end up being faster than at the track. Sorry.

What mods do you have done to your eclipse? and w/ trap speeds like that they(taurus and GSR) should have low 15 all the way down to mid-high 14's

I wouldn't believe G-tec numbers. I used one at the drag strip once, and it said I was running 3/10ths or so faster than I actually was (yes, it was adjusted correctly). On the street or for the ordinary driver, 3/10ths means little, at the drag strip it's huge, even for us guys in the mid 15's emoji

Yeah stupid GTech, that are pretty accurate, i have been impressed with it, at least its good for figuring out where you are generally at and see if your mods and new techniques are improving your times, just you gotta do the runs in a flat flat spot. Its still cool that my taurus is running a 15.70 consistently, thats enough to smoke most of the Honduhs and probes haha. Now if only someone made some modifications for it...
