You guys think that the freed-up power would be worth not having power steering? I could care less about the A/C it's 25 degrees outside right now Is it possible to take off the belt but then put a smaller one just for the power steering?

you could get a couple of horses without the belt on but no power steering is a bitch to drive your car. You could take off the belt, use some string belt to measure the belt you would need. Take the string belt to a local parts shop to see if they have one in that size. Or you could get the belt for the power steering W/O a/c and see how that fits.

Just measure, take the orig belt, and get a smaller one to fit, the one without AC will fit, but most places dont carry it, but the dealer does... I have to do this this week also cause I just ripped out the AC system. I bet a got over 50lbs of dead weight out of the engine bay durring this tear down. Yippie. You can adjust the tension in the belt using the power steering assembly now that you dont have ac, look in the FSM for directions... Loosen 3 bolts, slide it how you need it, tighten the bolts back up, I think thats what I remember. -- Brad Rickard 98 GS HRC Stage V (nuff said)
