#69711, "crankshaft power limit"

Anyone know or have an idea of how much power our crankshaft can handle? and how high it can rev safely, along with the power limit?

I've never seen or heard of a 420A cranmkshft breaking, because of massive amounts of power.

I don't think anyone knows the power limit on the crankshaft yet. Its more than 600hp. The bedplate design helps tremendously in that area.

As far as revving - look to the valvetrain for that limit. I've seen some with standalones revving around 8500 - but I'm sure thats with spring and cam upgrades(at least). Me - I wouldn't even try to take the stock springs past the ignition cut - 7800...but thats just me.

ok. i figured it can handle at least that much. just wondering cause once I get by built block back, my engine will be able to handle just about anything i can throw at it, as long as the crank can handle it. I may go standalone this summer and being able to rev higher would be a plus, especially on a somewhat big turbo (bigger than 20g) my head is fully built, except for cams, but those will get upgraded whenever i figure out which to get

The crank is definately not the weakest link, once someone puts enough power to brake it we'll let you know, like said above ^, Hahn runs 10's w/ no problems, stock crank.

if memory serves me right phatridz acheived 1400 hp on the tube frame car witha stock crank knife edged. 11:1 with 55# of boost and a 250shot or somehting like that.

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
