#69637, "Need confirmation help, spun bearing?!?" Feb-29-04 08:20 AM by Collente
So as a few of you know I got a head that didn't have two of the oil caps in. Well, it shot out all of the oil. We started hearing a weird thumping type noise and I hurried and turned off the car. The car wasn't on more then 15-30 seconds. There was still a small bit of oil, it didn’t run completely dry.
We found the problem and started it up and everything sounded fine. I haven’t had a chance to get her on the road yet.
HERE IS THE QUESTION: Did I spin a bearing? What would you think? It started up again just fine. I know the only way of really knowing is to drop the oil pan and check it out. Which I most likely will do, just wanted all of your wise opinions.
TIA!

It's probably ok, since it didn't run too long..If you spun a bearing, you would know it, as you would hear some rod knock. Just keep an "ear" on it for a while..
