#69541, "Header but no Downpipe?"

Hey all, I have removed my turbo kit but a question. I've yet to start it but right now all I have is a header and no downpipe, is it OK to run it like this for alittle bit? Didn't want to start it until I was sure, didn't want to burn or drop valves. Thanks.

your asking if you can just run the exhaust out the turbo mani? you could but youd probably melt your fans, boil your coolant, and make underhood temps unbearable. think about it. the exhaust will be shooting directly into the fans/radiator. get a stocker header with dp. and yes, it will be loud a fuck, i dont reccomend it unless your lookin to mess up your car and get pulled over

Hey
I wasn't going to keep the turbo manifold on, I have headers but the stock downpipe is being a pain the ass and I was just asking if it was OK to put the headers on without the downpipe and run it like that. Not permnamently just from one place to another Of course I know that the O2 sensor wouldn't be there so it would run like shit. Just making sure that it would screw anything up.

Yeah, you'll fuck a lot of things up. Get your DP on there. Shit will melt, you could suck cold air back in to the exhaust side when you shut off the engine and warp valves and shit. Not a good idea.

Aren't we funny? I'll take that bet! emoji No I wouldn't want to screw anything up, which is why I asked. Actually I can get the downpipe on without a problem now, just no cat. Should be OK I suppose, except for being loud.

my friends and I were tearing up my moms old 86 Crown Victoria w/ a 351 Windsor Engine in it.. Strong ass engine, well we were taking through a trail that usually 4x4's go, heavily modified 4x4's now, not your reg jeeps and shit.. I hit a bit rut in the road and it tore off the exhaust.. Sounded like a monster truck w/ the stomach flu.. funny as hell, so I'm guessing yours would sound like a "mini" monster truck haha.. But I'm glad you can get a dp on now, that'll be much better haha..

thats funny. Yeah I'll be able to get the DP on, only have to drive it a few miles so shouldn't be any problems.

I'd put the downpipe on just to keep the hot gases off of all the electronics in the engine bay. =) You can run it with out cat and be fine. When I installed my header/downpipe, I cranked her up and she sounded terrible so it wasn't that much fun. LOL.

Yah I got it all on, no cat, car is going to exhaust shop tommorow to get fixed. Sounds like I just dropped a big ass V8 in it, only one with problems. It sorta sounds like the car has alot of power, but it also sounds like ass. Now I got some new issues that I'll put in another post.
