I'm wondering if anyone here can help... Need to know if this is something urgent or if I can put it aside for a while... Basically I'm hearing what I originally thought was just piston slap... But.. Piston slap should only occur at idle!

At one point I thought throwing higher octane at it would fix the problem... Didn't really stop it... Car felt smoother but wasn't really an improvement as far as this sound goes. It's like a light chattering... Goes away when I rev higher.

No CEL's, light definitely isn't burnt out...

Motor was rebuilt 4k ago... No real work on the head I think it was just cleaned, new valve stem seals, valve cover gasket...

Running 15w40 right now... Bad choice bc it's the coldest season I've felt in a long time... Clutch is kinda going... Just a new stocker... shrug. Problem is not new, have had it for months... Possibly longer. (Don't daily drive the car, but I'm going to have to in a few weeks)

What should I try before giving up and annoying my shop?

rattling... tapping... doesnt SEEM to be dependant/affected by how fast the engine is going... Only occurs in 3rd/4th as far as I can tell. Didn't hear it at all today on way to body shop... Not affected by motor temp.

15W40 even in th esummer I wouldn't run this, 5W30 or 10W30.

Does it stop above 4k, or keep up?

It's possible you starved the bearings for oil and they are slowly getting worse.

The easy fix would be bad lifters and they are not pressurizing.
