Does anybody know roughly how much cams and headwork cost, including installing the head? Also how much does a street profile set of cams with the usual accompanying headwork give you in additional HP? Also, yes I have used the search function. Would like to hear from people who have had this kind of work done, and how much it cost/gained in hp, etc.

well Crower Cams stage 1-3 are about $400 from ERT, and crane cams are about the same price from places like Howell. Don't forget to replace your springs with Ti ones $89. retainers are not necessary. it is also a good idea to replace your rockers but also not necessary just reduces rotating mass. SS valves are a good idea since most cams might leave the valve in the firing line. Get good adjustable cam gears while your at it Cranes are $300 they come with a nice 5 bolt design, and are also adj. 10* like most other companies. As for the actual cost of labor i will find out very soon, don't forget to get all your gaskets/seals and head studs. In advance tuning there is a wonderful write up with graphs showing what kind of numbers you might lay down with different cams. They also compare grinds and dyno sheets it's a must read for anyone condsidering cams. Good luck and have fun.

I got a N/A (non turbo, naturally aspriated) Street stage 3 Port job, with 3 angle vavle job, and upgraded valve springs for 714 bux shipped.

I got my stage 1 cams from Crower, they rock!! there not to extreme to give me really bad side affectes like a super bad idle (but mine does idle lumpy, like a old v8) and it dosent kill my bottom end, gives me good all around power, its good for a daily driver...

Then look into cam gears they help ALOT on n/a dsm's. I tuned mine to get my 8 WHP... i got my cam gears for like 100 bux a peice... there 4 bolt...

I am getting the entire head prepped and ported, 1mm oversized SS valvews installed, Ti springs and retainers and all the other requirements for around $1400. That does not include cams or install, since I'll be taking care of those myself. I will be ordering the cams and gears from ERT too.

I expect to be setting some NA records with my total setup, so it's maybe a *wee bit* extreme.

And Brian's going all out. There will be very little stock about his head when we are done with it.

There are various ways we can do port work.
We can do a port and polish for as little as $450 all the way up through strengthening the head parts, and doing a full race port.
