#67911, "Does my Cam position sensor run my injectors??"

I think my sensor is shot cause I've got NO injector pulse. What else would cause this. My dad tested the injectors last night and said there was no pulse at all.

make sure the wiring harness isnt caught under the egr tube, that would cause a huge short and stop the injectors. The cam sensor tells the ecu where the cams are during cycle which in turn tell the injectors when to fire etc, everything is linked in one way or another.

Yes, the cam signal determines injector timing. If the sensor is bad or the ECU is getting no signal, the ECU will not fire the injectors.

Thats what I thought. We're getting a new cam angle sensor this afternoon. I hope that fixes it....I don't think anything is shorting on the EGR but I WILL look when I get home.

Anyone else got any suggestion??

The crank angle sensor is also used by the PCM to determine timing and MFI.

crank sensor, not cam angle sensor.

camshaft position sensor:
determines fuel igniton and injection along with the crank angle sensor and other sensors. a target magnet attaches to the rear of the camshaft. the magnet has 4 diff poles in an asymmetrical pattern, as the target magnet rotates the camshaft position sensor senses the change in polarity. the sensor output switch switches from high (5.0 volts) to low (.30 volts) as the magnet rotates. also acts as a thrust plate to control camshaft end play.

Cam Position Sensor, Crank Position Sensor, and TPS work together to control injectors and spark. All three are needed to generate an RPM pluse.

Sounds like you have something that is breaking down. It will probably leave you setting one day. Bad thing is those intermittent problems are the worse to find.
