I did. But I had a shop put my engine together, so I wasn't really worried about it. I have over 30k miles on the engine, so all is good.

I had 2 left over. A large orange one, which turned out to be the seal between the bedplate and block and required repulling the engine and taking the bottom apart again to rectify the massive oil leak that resulted, and the other was this little green rubber band looking this which I threw away to find out later was the gasket for the cam postion sensor, my only real leak after 10,000 miles.

some are for inside the oil pump.
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

You have a seal for your bedplate? Are you sure? If there is a seal it has to be a sealant or that size. it cant be too thick b/c of the space w/ your main bearings.. Unless I am misunderstanding something..

yeah that's what I used.. never had a problem.. anything thicker than that would in my opinion be bad (a gasket) b/c of the strict tolerances on the crank main journals..
