LAST EDITED ON 08-Nov-01 AT 07:14 PM (PST)

Opps, sorry! Idle Air Control motor. It controls the flow of air around the throttle plate for warm up and other times to control idle speed. Its kinda like an automatic choke that is on carburated cars, ecept now the comp controls the "choke" and idle speed. On fuel injected engines that use air pressure to control rpms(on ours, you press the throttle to let in more air, unlike throttle bodies that let in air/fuel mixture), the IAC is like an automatic throttle plate to keep the rpms up when the motor is cold so it doesn't die out. If you ever drove a carburated car, you have to press the gas a few times to set the choke and prime the motor when cold. The IAC controls a lot of this, so check it out. I'm not too sure where it is at on our motors, since i have never done one on it yet, but i would bet thats whats wrong. Its got to be somewhere on the intake assembly...

Yea I used to drive a 69 dodge dart gt with twin four barell holly performer 650's, mounted on a high rise alum, intake, and all of that was on a dodge 340. And damb it was hard to start on cold day's. pump, pump, crank start misfire. and all over again till it started for good. Shit it would burn rubber through second gear. MMMMM how much is one of those handy little #'s. (IAC).

I would just try to buy a complete throttle body from somebody (ebay.com, dsmtrader.com, thepartstrader.com). If you go to get one from satan you are sure to get it right in the ass. You can buy a brand new throttle body (i'm pretty sure it comes with the TPS and IAC) already bored out to 55mm for like $280 from howellautomotive.com

I hope this helps.
