#66208, "Ebay Stainless headers???"

Has anyone had any experience with them? They seem like a really good deal, only $100.

Let me know what you think

sounds to good to be true. You get what you pay for. Expect major fitment issues if you get this

they don't have a fitment issue but they are not real stainless. The stainless color burns most of the way off in a week, after that they look like shit

It may be worth a shot. There are some on there now for "buy it now" around $170-$180 plus about $35 shipping. Let me know how serious you are about this. Also I have heard about fitment issues with the OBX header, have you heard anything about that?

Yeah, my first car was a 1986 Monte Carlo SS. I really liked that car, someday I will have another one. The body on it was in pretty rough condition though. I love the body style. I would like to take a Gran National drive train and through it in an all black SS with chrome Crager SS rims. That would be sweet. Have a twin turbo setup in it!!! Ahh I love my dreams.

What do you mean the bores? Do you mean the plate that the tubes are welded to? Were 2 of yours plugged up? The ebay auction states 100% stainless steal. If they aren't actually stainless then you should be able to get your money back.

where the four holes are in the headers, he "bored" them out for better flow, but only 2 were bored and the other 2 holes look all jacked up

I got the OBX ones and Ive been very happy. They are stainless as well. They did turn like a blueish purple, but everyone says they like the way they look. They look race like or something. Pretty cool. Plus I got a few a extra pony out of em!

I got them the ebay ones; they suck. Prolly get HP headers (goldish color) or Greddy if you can find one used or something off the trader.

I have some of these headers and I must say, fitment--perfect, and the piping looks good on the inside. I could see where they filed edges and the weld to make for smoother air flow. The color change worried me a little, it changed to a yellowish goldish color, but it actually looks nice.

As for the color change, I have done some tempering as part of my undergrad work w/ metal fabrication. As you heat -some- metals they change color/characteristics w/ the increase in temperatures. I thought that these changes only applied to other types of steel alloys but not to stainless, but after doing a little searching I found that there are a few types of stainless steel alloys that DO change into tempering colors as they heat up and the colors mean various things having to do w/ the molecular structure, and strength, and workablilty of the alloy.

So, I conlude from this that just b/c they change color does not -necessarily- mean that it is not 100% stainless, it may just mean they use a different alley of stainless. Which I would imagine would be "cheaper" for a manufacturer to aquire, hence cheaper prices.

Not saying anything does are doesn't use anything, just stating possiblilites. Don't mean to sound like a teacher, but I am. I also thought that this might be an area that not a whole lot of people know about so would give you guys a full explanation.

Good day to you sirs,

BP

Fuckin' Mr. Wizard you are Bruce..

FYI - I helped B-Rok install the headers and I'll be the first to say that fitament was a close to perfect as it gets.. Given, he did all of the tough stuff while I made sure the DP lined up w/ the cat but all in all, it took us what, 40 mins at most to install them? I haven't seen them since they turned the bling bling gold but I can't imagine those headers looking *bad*.

B-RoK, Now you jes need ta git yer teef gold capped to match tha headers.. fa sheezy..
