hp gains will be negligable (spelling) on a lightly modded NA 2gnt. The CEL? maybe. depends on the unit but you can just do the rear o2 sensor resistor mod (search the archives) and it will knock that sillyness off.

well if it was just a resonator how much Hp do you get from a no cat set up with header/catback/and no cat?

definately louder. like I said, every car is different so minor mods such as that can vary widely. You wont know until you do it and if you're serious about getting real numbers with your car then get a before and after dyno

this is what i welded into a cat replacement.
the ones on ebay are cheap and are not a cat. its just a resonator like mine above. i dont like the ebay ones because it still gives you as really loud rasp. mine just gives a deep growl at idle, and an exoticish scream at WOT. talk to steve at ERT www.teamert.com ask him about making one. steves a great guy and im sure would be more than happy to throw one together for a price

from my personal experience, the f'n blow big time. the only function they serve is to ruin your exhaust tone like JWoodley said. They won't pass any states emissions test. I lost power with mine on. When i put my catco hiflow cat on, i could feel more power because of the added back pressure. if you're not turbo or a very modded N/T then don't waste your time or money.
