I just completed the ATX to MTX swap at 3:30am. Overall a smooth install and my first impression is positive. I installed a SPEC Stage 3 modular clutch.

Everything works great except my turbo downpipe keeps hitting the oil pan. I think re-orientation of the engine during the tranny install caused the pipe to be moved one inch closer to about 1/8" from the pan. That's way to close... causing it to hit the pan ("knock knock knock") whenever accelerating, braking, and shifting. I'll going to solve this problem by re-installing my solid front motor mount, bending the downpipe, and fabricating a brace to secure the downpipe.

The clutch feels great! It grabs quick and the pedal is light. I wouldn't want it any other way. The car wants to GO GO GO! The SPEC Stage 3 clutch has a considerable amount of chatter in first and reverse. This should smoothen out after 1000 miles or so. I can't wait to see what she's got!

I have pictures of the install if anyone cares. Also I can do a visual writeup if it'll help anyone. I think this is my 2nd best my to date! It's not even the same car!

AHH yes, yet another has gone to the dark side! MUAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! I just did the swap as well and its BY FAR, the best mod I could have done for $1000. HUGE performance gains. If anyone has any questions feel free to hit me up as well. I did the whole thing in about 20 hrs. Great job BTW, its not an easy job by far. Your car is gonna haul balls. I got 350 miles on my mine now and I got on er a few times and its awsome. Your turbo is gonna spool quick

i just want to give props to you guys, that would be the last thing i would want to do to my car is a manuel swap. its just impressive that there have been a bunch of guys to do it and says its easy on top of things. so congrats guys and enjoy!!!

atx is auto trans , right and mtx is manual . And why do you put the x on the end. ? Because you swapped it? Sorry for being so ignorant .

That's right.

Is that a Hahn Stage 3 Turbo.? How much did it run you . ?

No it's not a Hahn kit. It's my own custom setup. I guess it's not really a stage thing... I'm guessing about 300wHP.

what is all in your setup? What turbo, bov, intercooler, and so on....

Please let me know if you get this write up done. If you've got all the pictures I'll even format the whole damn thing in HTML and make it look good plus host the thing on my site... the info will be up forever, I run my own server so it's not going anywhere. It's hosted at EV1 so I've got plenty of bandwidth.

I just bought a 5spd tranny recently, waiting for it to come in the mail, then I'll be doing the swap as well.

A WRITEUP WOULD BE KICKASS, otherwise I'm going to be asking a lot of questions.

If you're talking to me, then yeah, the Spec stage 3 didn't last long. This is an old thread actually. I'm using a Clutch Masters stage 4 now. You can really stick it to this clutch... I put down over 400 HP with it.

Any chance you could send me the pictures and what you have done on the write up? I can post up what you have and try to fill in the rest. People have been saying for years they would do a write up and I really just want one for everyone who is considering doing the swap! Plus I would like a little forsight before I do it myself next month
