#6483, "level ten tranny"

Ok, I just installed my first actual mod besides the blinking neon light on my back deck lol,it was a CAI, now what I wanna do, since I'm auto is get a level ten tranny, I was planning on converting to AWD because I was talking to Pure Rage about the kit from Level Ten that has it, I will more then likely be AWD'n my car unless the kit doesn't work or something, but I can guarantee you it'll be a level ten tranny.

What's the pros and cons of a level ten tranny before I drop a couple of grand on it? I'm getting it, I just want to know what to expect.

You'll have to ask them about the details. Ray is the only one I know from the board that had level10 tranny work.

Cons: You can barely squak the tires now with an auto so its almost like having awd. (I had an auto, I know from experience)

i wouldn't get the level 10 til you go turbo cause the awd will sapp soooooooo much power and with your car being auto...geeez that would suck. go turbo first then level 10.

Well, I too am interested in a new Level Ten tranny, but being auto, I don't see the need for all wheel drive. I just think it's gunna end up hurting more ($$ and weight) then it will be worth it, considering autos dont usually have a traction problem.

going stage 5 while doing a little power breaking will cause some traction issues on a Auto, or at least it better

yo ive a 96 gs with a level 10 upgraded tranny (converter and reprogramed valvebody),whiched cost me a small fortune, on the stock motor i think it slowed me down. im in the process of putting a turbo on so ill let you know if it seems to have helped out. i would most definetly recomend the turbo before the tranny upgrade.

WOW! Really, slowed you down? Geez, I thought the whole reason to get a Level Ten tranny was to speed you up.

What engine mods do you have combined with this trannt.
Damn, and you got the reworked torque converter too.

just an intake and tanabe racing madelion exaust. Seeing as im not making any more power it didnt help out, but with a turbo it should make a diffrence.

The only reason I was going to get a lvl 10 tranny is because I thought our transmissions couldn't take the HP ofa stage 5 turbo running HIGH boost.

I am sorry to say this but if you are realy looking to spend the money on an awd tranny get a GSX it is cheaper and will not waste all the time and $. Sell the auto gs and get a auto or stick gsx. Why even consider spending 3k+ on the turbo and probably almost 8k (I assume if not more) on the tranny it makes absolutly no sense. Flame all you guys wish emoji

Yea i have the 420a. I did the upgrades because i knew i was going to put a turbo on it. i had the converter upgraded which was supose to up the stall and the valve body was redone to accomidate the converter. and i was not the one who was talkin of putting awd on my car that is silly. It was supose to cost aroud 750 for all of it but, they said that i didnt send all the parts to my valve body and i had to buy a new one which in the end i think everything cost around 1000. for the money i spent i could of just put a 5 speed in and called it a day. i just like the fact that i dont have to shift gears all the time. Does anyone out there have a 420a turbo with an automatic if so how does it run.

The transmissions are in the 2k+ range. I would buy a stage 2 kit then upgrade later unless you plan on buyin a lot more. This way you can enjoy boost while you're waiting to save up for the level 10 tranny. Plan B: Save it and stage 5 will come sooner.
