I don't know why I'm posting this since since I'm sure this has something to do with my numerous CELs, but it's been awhile since I've had a problem to ask for help on and I was kinda fiending for teh technical talk.

There's a list of my CELs below my sig pic. They will either all be there or none of them will be there. This is pretty werid imo. IN any case, here's what's going on...

(similar to gilee's problem, but not really)

My alternator is good. My battery is good. Once the car is running, she runs. This only happens after sitting overnight and cooling to the core or even after being left alone overnight, but in a sunny parking spot by the time I need to go somewhere.

I never needed to give her teh gas to get started before this. I will put the key in, the clutch in, and give her a couple cranks. She starts right up. Lately, Daisy's taken to cranking over on her own like normal, but as soon as I bring the key back to ON, she dies. I'll usually give her about 3 tries before I apply <50% throttle and crank her over. Then she fires up, and I'll keep her under 2000rpm for about 5 seconds or so. After that, she will just drop to idle. A couple of times, though, after doing that, she drops down to about 500rpm and kind of chugs her way back up to 1000rpm. I can then drive her (very gently since she hates the cold weather) about a block away and shut her off, still cold, and she will fire up like she used to with no problems or assistance.

Any ideas what this might be? I know I have a CEL for misfire, but she pulls hard and strong straight to redline. The coolant sensors have both been replaced, and the speedo works.

I plan on getting the fuel pump and coil pack replaced in my Stage 1 which has been moved back to about 3 months from now, but any input is always welcome.

i kinda have the same problem. my car when i start it in the mornings it fumbles around for a good 2-3 seconds then is fine. but i think i need to replace my plugs/wires. ill be doing that today so hopfully thats the cause.

My Black Eclipse is been sitting htere in the snow for about 2 weeks now.
My g/f just CAN"T drive it... (NOT a good driver)
And for me, I have to drive her car with 1/4 throttle in all the time even when shifting to D or R or Park and even at stop light, with brakes, I still have to keep my right feet at the throttle 1/4. Sometimes a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes. Especially over nite. I have to do it for a few minutes... So what gives? every one say it's the alternator, but I don't get is, after I drove for about 10-15 minutes... my car is fine. I can start her RIGHT up after I shut her off. Even over nite. (the day before If I drove her for 20 mins) she is fine and comes right up. So what gives? (no Cels thou.)


For my own Red Eclipse, she is starting to get hard on starting the car. Not hard, but after it start, it always make two - four times that the RPM drop to like 200-400 (trying to choke) then goes right back to idle normally...then after a while... it's all good. ???
Don't konw why? it's been like that since last x-mas..but this year, I have turbo on..so I am more worried about things like that. (all minor things)

on an auto tranny car (since you mentioned D and R) maybe the torque converter is going? I dunno man. I honestly have no ideas here. That's why I'm posting.

I did just change my plug wires this past summer, so I doubt they are the problem. I think I rememeber this being addressed in the owners manual. I'll check that out tonight sometime.

Hey DR1665.. if you found out, can you post this here also.... YO.. as soon as you said the TC for the ATX is going out.... you SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME man.... I want 100% messed up alternator more then a fucked up Tranny....

bump - anybody have any more ideas on this? I crave technical info.

This AM, I did the usual 3 tries by herself and no luck. On the 4th try, I held it about 1500rpm and let off after about 1 second. It dropped down, but resumed a "normal" idle (normal for Daisy, that is). So it seems like she just needs a little assistance in her old age in getting the pacemaker in her new heart running. I'm not really worried about this, but I figured I'd post to see if anyone saw any red flags or something.

gilee - If I were you, I would take her car to AutoZone and have them test the alternator, battery and starter. It's free and will help you narrow down those 3 right away.
