i rtv'd it to the block, then used the oil pan gasket for the pan to the scraper.

so it went block-rtv-crankscraper-oil pan gasket-oil pan ? by the way, i'm going to be doing my crank scraper very soon and i'm going to do a write up with pictures, so hopefully that will help a lot of ppl out.

I think the oil pan gasket is optional. Ive dropped my oil pan 2 or 3 times and I removed my oil pan gasket long ago. I just use RTV, works fine.

yea, you dont have to use rtv. i just find having to rtv the pan every time you drop it to be annoying. the gasket just slaps right on.
