Ok, I was in the middle of pulling out the factory sending unit off the block to T in my oil pressure gauge sending unit and oil supply line for the turbo. Anyways, the factory unit broke and now I need one to replace it. Any ideas where to get it??? The dealer wants $111 and I found a wholesale auto parts place that can get it for $87. Thats still pretty steep considering the one for the turbo model is only $6. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I called AutoZone and they send they don't even list that part for the non-turbo eclipse. They have the turbo sending unit for $6 though. emoji

Mabey it was Advance Auto that I've bought two from before.

Also, possibly Carquest, or NAPA, in case Advance says they don't have it either.

What year is your car? because the dealer is telling me that the piece I need was only on the 95 year cars. I think that is why I can't find it anywhere else. I will try some more places. Thanks for your help...

I have a 95, I wasn't aware that the oil sender had different style plugs like some of the other harnesses do.

If this is true, it has round pins and 96 and later have flat pins.

Yea it has two round pins and its longer then the unit that all the auto places have. Supposedly the 95 has the sending unit that the parts places have AND another unit that I have to pay $80+ just to replace. Do you know which one I'm talking about?

2 parts? I'm not quite sure what your talking about.

You should be able to get the 95 style oil sender for around 30 bucks from one of those places I mentioned (I've done it twice). Definately don't buy it from the dealer.

I broke my stock pressure switch and had to buy a new one from Advance Auto. All they had in stock was some screwy two piece unit with 1/8" NPT fitting. I ended up buying a sensor for a Dodge truck. It had the right 3/8" NPT fitting and plugged into my stock harness. It was like $30. I've been using that one for 3 years or so.

I have an aftermarket gauge with my stock oil pressure sensor basically unplugged. It serves no real purpose and causes no add'l CEL.

Doesn't trigger the oil light if pressure doesn't come up w/in a minute or so?

It's not plugged in and there isn't any code associated with it, nor does the low oil light come on.

We've had a discussion on this a loong time ago. Even if it were hooked up and running properly, and your oil was SO low that the light would be activated, it's now MUCH too late to do anything.

The 420a oil pressure light is useless.

I believe that proper oil pressure forces the switch open. So, if oil pressure drops, the switch closes and powers up the oil light bulb. When you leave the sensor unhooked electrically, the circuit is open...hence, no oil light.
