When I gasket match my lower intake mani, is the head already gasket matched? I'm not planning on remaoving the head any time soon, so I want to know if this will make much of a difference.

...If you are opening up the manifold anymore than the intake ports from your cylinder head then you do need to match them. You may also have to open up the gasket yourself.

I did all of this when opening up my cylinder head(very unwise with our small 2L). All the intake ports need are smoothing. The intake manny can be gutted as far as I'm concerned. It prevented high RPM power dropoff, and felt stronger all the way to redline.

No the head isn't gasket matched. But yes port the hell out of the intake. You will feel the engine pull stronger to redline instead of dropping off a little.

SO since I'm not gonna be matching the head, should I not gasket match the lower intake where it meets the head?
