#63540, "ordered an FTY motor."

sup guys, long time no post.

so i ordered a short block from FTY. got the base rice killer motor. i changed the low comp pistons to 10.5:1. also having the head milled down some, minimum necessary to get the head flat on the block. question is what do you think this will do power wise. car also has a 2.5" catback, high flow cat, BKR5E-11's, and a short ram.

supposively these cars come with 110 to the wheels stock. so going from there where do you think i'll be?

summer time will bring a port and polish, crane #16's and possibly a 3 angle valve job with some new valves, springs, retainers etc. then we boost. emoji

actually, most of the dyno's i've seen for stock have been about 114. I guess there might be a large variance however, Chrysler isn't real good about quality control. What would you put down? I don't really know. 140? 145? Slap some cams in there while you're at it though and you're probably looking at an easy 155 160 (either stage 2s or the #16s or 18s). Good luck

add 18 seris cams a head port and the rest of the mods and you'll be pretty fast..

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

It depends. Definatly some type of ecu be it stand alone or piggyback. Motofool likes Megasquirt, theres also e-manage, and if youre a 97', afx ecu i guess. could save up for a stand alone like dfi or electromotove tec 3

ok and what about the boosting on #18's? isn't that a bit harsh. i mean 10.5 compression pistons on top of #18's is def not a turbo motor.

AHHHH!!!!!!! MOTHERLAND!!! :o

Bring it no0b. You and I will rock the shootout with Micheal, Todd and anyone else brave enough and with the good taste to go all motor. Regardless of which one of us is the fastest (read: me), we will impress the hell out of the rest fo the DSMers from across the country.

I have done quite a bit of research on this setup (you probably went and read my diabolical plan, didn't you? emoji ) and I can help you out I think. Also, be sure to talk to Michael97RS and VX100(Todd) to get some quality advice. They are the gods of 2GNT all-motor setups (don't forget Thura. He sold out to the turbo school, which I can't say I hold against him, but he knows his shit too.)

Getting your 420a bottom end built for all-motor: $2000
Getting your 420a head built up with monster cams so you make 200hp: another $3000
Being just as fast as most of the turbo guys at the shootout: priceless

haha. well the all motor idea is temporary. i've been planning on boosting a high comp motor for awhile. was heavily debating going with the 2.4 but i need something reliable. heard they're a pain to tune to the point where the run properly.

but yeah i shouldn't be boosted till at least next winter. i'm kinda torn though. with all the initial D i've been watchin, all motor is just alot more appealing. specially since i've always been into handling more then dragging. either way building this thing all motor against you should be fun.

i didn't read what you're doing with yours, if i did i forgot. my shortblock is already in the works. this summer should prove a port and polish, 3 angle valve job and some oversized ferreas to go with it all. spring is going to be fuel management season so i can drop the new head and cam in over the summer. hoping for around 200HP there. then possibly talk to the local machine shop about a quad TB setup. that's a pipe dream at the moment though.

i don't plan on running tons of boost and by the time that comes around i should have a thicker head gasket on to compensate a little for the high comp. we'll see what happens with the all motor idea first.
all i have left to say is: fear my refund checks! bwahahahahaha.

oh yeah. and endofworld.swf is hillarious.

You too! When we race at the shootout (I assume you're coming!), it will be "the Battle of the Refund Checks!" LOL!

Oversized valves eh? I really wasn't looking to do that, but I've been talking a lot of shit lately, so I think I may have to at this point. emoji

Michael! Info in the email please. emoji HAHA.
