#63505, "What is this EGR nipple coming off the engine"

Ever since I had my motor rebuilt I have been finding strange things wrong with my car. Last night I found the problem of the horrible ticking noise my motor makes. It is a nipple coming off the driverside front of the motor and it looks like it is a part of the egr system. It is some sort of exhaust leak but I have no idea where it is supposed to be connected to. Where are all the vacuum lines supposed to go from the egr system? I have the egr valve connected to a vacuum line but not sure where this other one goes. I have no pics so I hope I explained ot well enough any info will help. Thank

The one on the egr valve closest to the engine (so on the mounting flange of the valve, that is the backpressure hose that should go to the top (spaceship looking section) of the egr solenoid.

The one from the top of the egr valve (closest to battery) would go to the output of the solenoid (thats the tube thats off center from the cylindrical part of the solenoid.
