Well i too had that ticking sound, kind of like knocking. It turned out to be that tensioner for the timing belt. It was slowly backing off and then it finally broke. So its something you might want to check out emoji

becauseful their most ticking is the lifters, and if those aren't you can hear the injectors firing..

not all ticking is that bad =)

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

So I'm guessing if the car only ticks occasionally and only till it warms up then its the lifters right?

The tensioner pulley bolt backing out would be constant ticking, always?

mine wasnt really a ticking but a thump thump thump type noise. it was the non tensioned part of my belt flipping back and forth in the drive of the belt, if that makes sense. i fixed it though. good as new.

i just got my motor rebuilt after it was hydro locked
i got JE 8.8:1 pistons and crower rods and the crankshaft had to be ground but anyway it sounds almost like a deisel until it has reached opperating temp where the oil pressure is at 25 (i think thats it) at idle then it is quit like it should be.
so there is nothing to worry about??? i was skeered about this but the shop said it was normal and they said it was b/c of the forged parts expanding differently when it warmed up or some shit and that i should not drive it untill it has warmed up...
