#6235, "CA street legal mods?"

Sup members,

Hey does anyone know what mods are street legal in CA? For instance an Intake, Exhaust, Hedders, Wires, Valve Job? Will any of this fail emissions for visual?

thanks,

Tito

Intake, headers, or exhaust, will technically fail visual unless you have a CARB sticker. But a lot of places don't know, or don't care, so you might pass.

i don't think anything is legal in cali. hehehe, but seriously i think it's gotta have one of those carb exempt stickers or something on the part but it also depends on how much an a$$ the cop wants to be.

I am in so cal and I just had my test done last month. I went to a shop that doesnt mind the visual stuff like CAI and things like that and passed with flying colors. I currently have CAI, catback exhaust, JE pistons, Crower Rods and some mild head work. If you need to know of a good shop to go to drop me an email NkySmrf@aol.com

Eric C went to some place in Riverside and got his star stage 2 passed smog, some places just don't know what these motors look like. I went to one place and he said he doesn't know these cars so he couldn't smog it. Then I drove down inglewood blvd., and there were smog shops on every other corner. Went to one of em, and passed, with headers, intake, cam gears showing, exhaust. No CARB stickers at all. Just try going to a few places and ask them to look under your hood to see if there is anything that you should "fix" before smogging...

I don't care where I have to go, I'll make a whole dam day of it just to get my smog done, I just don't want to get hassled or even worse fail, f**k that. Just tell me where to sign...oh yeah should turbo and emissions be in the same sentence...hahah

i live in so cali, and the emissions can be a bitch. as long as you have the CARBs they run your car. the cops are a bitch to deal with. some know the law, and some see a fixed up car and pull it over not knowing anything. but some of the advantages are, that there are so many fixed up cars here, they are kicking back a little bit. recently, i had to go to court for some fix it tix. BS. but, i do know that there are some places that "help" fixed up cars with emissions. i have a friend that said he takes his car to a station in china town, and theyll check almost anything. no guarantees that you will pass, but at least it will be put on the rack... youll have to pray that your car will pass with what ever mods you have on it.. but hey, at least you will get to try to pass, lots of places will not let your car get on the rack based just on visual.
