Im approaching the big 100k soon and Im in need of a tuneup....I havent really had much maitninence done since 70k so yeah...I mean I plan on bottomend kit around x-mas but what other things should I do....also I have a weird whering sqcreeching noise comming from the belt area?..I searched n some people said powersteering?..any more info on that?

Are you turbo? Are you planning on going turbo? That would help. But when you do the bottom end near xmas, make sure you change timing belt,ac/accessories belt, tensioners/pullies, valve job. You'll need an uper gasket kit. Get you head decked and cleandd.
might as well put on a udp while your messin with it. If you have the money of course. I will be doing the same thing. Except sooner I hope

if there's really nothing wrong with your engine I wouldn't get the bottomend kit unless you really wanna. Unless you really want piston slap bwahaha.

I blew my engine at 100k so that's why I got a bottomend kit.

but yeh do a compression test and go from there. if your compression is lower than say 180 or there are large variences in between cylinders then maybe getting the bottomend job is good. But if you engine's compression were 215psi no variences at all then if it ain't broke don't fix it just the usual 100k maintenance:

timing belt
tensioner
tensioner assembly (or just two idler pulley and reuse the old assembly )
idler pulley
water pump
Oil Pump (you don't really have to do this one but if you have low oil pressure or have ever run your car dry for some reason do it)

you can get an underdrive pulley while your at it seeing as how you gotta take the old one off anyway

yeah I plan on goin turbo in the spring/early summer..Thought I put that :-p!...but yah..thats why I was gunna do the bottom end kit but yeah thoes things sound good. guess I'll just wait a little bit for the tuneup then so when I do bottom end I can get it all done at once...think I should do it myself or what cause Im not sure what the costs would be...I heard it was upwards of like 400 for just a timing belt so I could only imagein a tuneup and bottomend rebuild...

let me stress again the fact that you need to get ALL TENSIONERS AND ACCESSORIES with your timing belt.
My timing belt snapped 200 miles after i had it changed.

If you are handy with your tools and have some friends who can help you out who aren't choads, you can do a lot of the rebuild on your own (not all by yourself unless you have a killer shop imo). You really only would need to send your block out to be bored over, honed and decked properly. Same sort of thing goes for the head. Send it out and let someone else clean it, flow test it and make sure that all the valves seal up nice. Basic engine prep like that might run you ~300 for the bottom and another ~300 for the head. Considering Satan will charge about $1100 just to change out your headgasket, you should do some serious researching with the search utility.

This thread has a lot of good info on the basic tune up if you don'r rebuild, but if you plan on changing your compression or doing anything internally, it would be wise to use the search before you shell out the $$$ for any rebuild kits/parts.
